The pistil from the carnation is to be cut and dry before using it.

The clour of the pistil is red, but when fluid isadded they became yellow.

Saffron are also the most adulterate spice in the world.

Today we use the saffron in kitchen when we bake or cook food.

But if You read about the medical uise of the saffron,

one will understand that it once was a very important spice in medicine use.

Saffron is a poisonous in very small amount.

DTo make saffron buns for Christmas is a old tradition.

Long time ago, when people sometimes didin't have money to buy food for,

Christmastime was the time of the year when every farmer allowed himself and his family,

to make the holiday very speciual.

It was very luxury to make saffron bread, and it was only allowed for Christmas.

Together with the saffronbread there was also some holidaycookies and bisquits made.

Every family member got their own pile of bread, bisquits and cookies.

But they has to be economical with their own pile,

since that was the only bread they are allowed to get during the Christmas holidays.

In 1800 it was very common that every province make their own sort of saffronbread.

This very speciual bread was thought to have some sort of magical force,

and it was a tradition that every child did get a saffron bun for Christmaspresent.

Some of this magical Christmas breads also was like a reserve and

a magicbread to make for example the spring sowing to be very big so

that the family and the animals didn't have to famish.

 

Nowadays it's common to buy the saffron bread in

a store a longtime before Christmas.

If You bake the saffronbuns Yourself, there are some different kinds of form.

Some example is Gullvagn, The hair of the priest,

Sowingbun, Lindebarn and many more.

It also has become common with saffron cream bun for the Eastern.

To the Lucia day it's has become a tradition to have

saffronbuns and gingerbreead bisquits.
